This book will be enjoyed by any who regularly find themselves poking fun at and/or enjoying internet memes criticizing those in the word of faith camp. If you know reformation history you will find yourself laughing out loud at some of the dialogue and situations encountered in this short, amusing look at how the reformers might act in today's theological climate. Instead of fighting the papacy, Tetzel, and such - this book presents a funny yet biting critique of the name-it and claim-it camp. Highly recommended!
This book was hilarious yet quite informative too. Made me want to do some research in church history. I loved it!
I really enjoyed the tone of this novel. The author has a great sense of humor, and a great deal of knowledge of the men God used to shape the Protestant Reformation. Whether you're a Zeke or a Chaz when it comes to craft beer and pipes, this book is a great read, and you won't want to put it down!
This was a delightful and quick read! Lots of laugh-out-loud moments as O'Brien imagines how the Reformers would react to today's prosperity gospel, along with keen insights into how modern-day heresies relate to those faced by Reformers in their own time. O'Brien takes friendly jabs at the "Young, Restless, Reformed" folks (both Baptists and Presbyterians), while offering a surprisingly warm commentary on the value of sticking together in the face of common enemies of the true gospel. Perfect gift for your Calvinist friends!
